5 Day Daily Devotion
based on a sermon preached by Tim Bach, 12/7/25

Day 1:

Opening Prayer: Begin with a prayer asking for understanding and insight into the scriptures for the week.

Scripture Reading: Luke 2:1-5

Daily Topic: The Journey to Bethlehem

Life Application: Reflect on the significance of Joseph and Mary's journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem. Consider areas in your own life where you feel God is leading you on a journey. Identify ways you can be more receptive and obedient to God's direction.

Follow-Up Exercise: Write a short journal entry about a journey you are currently on or feel called to. Pray for guidance and strength to follow God's leading.

Closing Prayer: Thank God for the examples of faith shown by Joseph and Mary. Ask for courage to follow His direction in your own life.

Day 2:

Opening Prayer: Ask for eyes to see the message of Jesus' humility and hearts to receive it.

Scripture Reading: Luke 2:6-7

Daily Topic: The Humility of Jesus’ Birth

Life Application: Consider the humility of Jesus' birth in a manger and what it means for our own lives. Reflect on ways you can embrace humility in your interactions this week.

Follow-Up Exercise: Identify one area in your life where you need to practice more humility. Make a specific plan on how you will showcase humility in this situation.

Closing Prayer: Pray for a heart that values humility over status and ask for the grace to live humbly.

Day 3:

Opening Prayer: Invite God's presence to guide your understanding of sacrifice and redemption.

Scripture Reading: Exodus 12:5-6; John 19:36

Daily Topic: The Symbolism of the Lamb of God

Life Application: Reflect on Jesus as the Lamb of God and His role in our redemption. Consider how understanding this deepens your appreciation for His sacrifice.

Follow-Up Exercise: Spend time in prayer or writing a letter to God, thanking Him for the gift of Jesus as the sacrificial Lamb and reflecting on what this means for your life.

Closing Prayer: Offer prayers of gratitude for Jesus' sacrifice and ask for a deeper understanding of His love.

Day 4:

Opening Prayer: Ask for clarity and openness to receive God’s message of peace.

Scripture Reading: Luke 2:8-14

Daily Topic: The Message of Peace and Good News

Life Application: Reflect on the peace proclaimed by the angels. Consider how you can pursue and apply this peace in your relationships and daily life.

Follow-Up Exercise: Identify a relationship or situation that needs peace. Pray for wisdom and take a small step towards creating or restoring peace in that area.

Closing Prayer: Thank God for His peace that surpasses understanding. Pray for the ability to be a peacemaker in your surroundings.

Day 5:

Opening Prayer: Invite the Holy Spirit to help you respond to God’s call in faith.

Scripture Reading: Luke 2:15-20

Daily Topic: Responding to Jesus

Life Application: Reflect on the shepherds' response to the angelic announcement. Consider how you might respond to Jesus' call in your life with similar faith and action.

Follow-Up Exercise: Choose one specific way you will actively respond to Jesus’ role as Savior, Christ, and Lord in your life this week. Share your experience with someone to encourage them.

Closing Prayer: End the week with a prayer of commitment, dedicating your response to Jesus’ call and thanking Him for the joy and responsibility of following Him.
